If your employer offers health coverage through the SHOP marketplace, you have 2 options:
- Accept the offer from your employer

Medical Plan through SHOP Coverage

If your employer offers a medical plan through SHOP creditable coverage, you will not qualify for premium tax credits or other savings based on your income if you decide to purchase a plan through Market Learn about the rules apply if you have an offer of coverage from your employer. Most employers offering coverage SHOP pay a portion of their premiums. If you buy a plan in the insurance market instead of accepting the offer from your employer, your employer will not pay your premiums. You will have to pay the full amount.
Options other than your SHOP insurance offer
If you buy a plan from outside the market, you will not receive premium tax credits or other savings based on your income. The only way to achieve this saving is by purchasing an individual plan through the insurance market. If you do not have medical coverage that qualifies as minimum essential coverage , you may have to pay a penalty.
